Wednesday July 19, 2017 @ 10:15 Nature: Vehicle Accident Possibly Serious Location: Hollyville Rd and Serenity Lane, Harbeson, DE 19951
On Wednesday, July 19th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to assist the Millsboro Fire Company (83) with a vehicle accident on Hollyville Road near Serenity Lane. The alert specifically requested a rescue assist assignment with a vehicle accident and reported heavy entrapment. Emergency response crews from Indian River included Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility and Ladder 80 from the Oak Orchard facility. Emergency response crew assignments included assistance with vehicle extrication and manpower pool tasks. Upon arrival of Indian River’s apparatus much of the vehicle stabilization was complete and effort to remove the truck’s roof were underway. It appears that a black Chevrolet Pick Up was traveling on Hollyville Road and lost control for an unknown reason leaving the roadway, rolling over, and striking trees causing occupant compartment entrapment. The Sussex County Paramedics assisted the Millsboro Ambulance crew with pre-hospital emergency care and transported to nearby medical facilities. The Delaware State Police Aviation Unit (Trooper 2) was alerted by cancelled for transportation purposes. The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control because Hollyville Road was closed for the duration of the incident. The Delaware State Police are investigating.
