This is the first installment of a new feature that will display pictures from our past. As I have been archiving the old pictures, I have found many that are interesting.
Some pictures show people from our past, some show events that left their mark on our area, and some show equipment and techniques from yesteryear.
This installment has the following photographs: 1) & 2) an Oak Orchard fire that damaged 3 houses in August, 1993, on Oak Orchard Road in Oak Orchard next to the building that was White Caps Restaurant; 3) the November 1991 flooding of our fire district; 4) an August, 1991, MVA on Route 24, John J. Williams Highway, that injured 13 people and had 1 fatality; 5) Engine 80-5 at a Millsboro Christmas Parade; 6) Steven Deery, Terrance Hall, and Willie Merchant after SCBA training; 7) Clay Warrington in Utility 80-10; 8) Tanker 80-4 with the Mack B Model tractor that shows the old front on Station 1; 9) the new brick front installed in 1981; 10) Mystery Firefighter, no, its not Johnny Gage- actually it is John Swithenbank; 11) Brush 80-1 when it was new in 1982. 12) Engine 80-3 at a chicken house fire. 13) Station 2 with its old markings. 14) Randy Lee and Les Vogts at Indian River's 1991 Open House; 15) Conditions on arrival at the Pinewater Farms house fire. I hope this brought back a memory or two.
