Nature: Brush Fire

Location: 27324 John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966

 

On Monday, June 12th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a brush fire on John J. Williams Highway near Gull Point Road.  It was reported by a neighbor because the density of the smoke.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Brush #80-00 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as Brush #80-0 from the Long Neck facility and the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignment was to identify and report the origin of the fire which was an improper burning exercise of construction debris and related materials as well as tree limbs and branches.  The ignition was associated with nearby gasoline products and the tenants on the property. 

Extinguishment and education were the tactics utilized to resolve this incident.

The Sussex County Emergency Operations Center was notified of the conditions at the incident location.
