Long Neck Girl Scout Troop #958 Donates to Indian River

On Tuesday evening, June 6th, the Members of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company attended the Long Neck Girl Scout Troop 958 for a presentation.

This Girl Scout was pursuing their Leadership In Action Badge and decided to present the fire company with stuffed animals to provide comfort for children in stressful situations when the fire company is called for assistance.

The Girl Scout’s Leader in Action (LiA) badge is earned.  One can earn a Leader in Action (LiA) award by assisting a Brownie group on any of their National Leadership Journeys. There are three different LiA awards, one for each of the Journey series: It’s Your World—Change It!, It’s Your Planet—Love It!, and It’s Your Story—Tell It!. To earn an LiA, you’ll share your organizational skills, use one of your special talents (such as creating and demonstrating a science experiment or craft), teach Brownies something important from their Journey (such as making healthy snacks or getting exercise), and reflect on your experience.

This presentation was coordinated in order to highlight the accomplishments of Mickayla Austin who was pursuing her Leadership in Action Badge.  Mickayla was joined with her fellow Brownies:  Brianna, Trinity, Tatianna, Twila, Gesele, and Troop Leader Elaine Mugford.  These girls presented stuffed animals and blankets to be given to children affected by an emergency situation.

The officers and members of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company offer our sincerest gratitude and heartfelt thanks for the thoughtfulness, generosity, and kindness for the donation.
