On Wednesday evening, May 24th, within minutes of a previous accident dispatch, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a second vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway near the entrance to the Pines of Long Neck. It was reported to be a two vehicle collision as well.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Ladder 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-1 and Brush #80-0 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, traffic control, and incident mitigation. Normal traffic patterns via the intersection were restricted until the removal of debris and vehicles were completed.
It appears that a red Pontiac Firebird and a blue Jeep Compass collided near the entrance to the Pines of Long Neck.
The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident with this segment of the highway being closed.
The Delaware State Police are investigating. |
