Nature: Vehicle Accident

On Wednesday evening, May 24th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Long Neck Road near the intersection of John J. Williams Highway adjacent to the entrance to Dash Inn. It was reported to be a two-vehicle collision with one vehicle remaining 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Ladder 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-1 and Brush #80-0 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, traffic control, and incident mitigation. Normal traffic patterns via the intersection were restricted until the removal of debris and vehicles were completed.

It appears that a Ford pick up was approaching the intersection when struck by a vehicle that fleed the scene.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
