Nature: Vehicle Accident Possibly Serious

Location: Indian Mission Rd and John J. Williams Hwy., Millsboro, DE 19966

On Wednesday evening, March 1st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Long Neck Road. It was reported as a single vehicle incident striking a utility pole with live wires down and occupant of the vehicle was non-responsive at time of the call.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Other responding resources included the Sussex County Paramedics, the local emergency medical services provider, and the Delaware Electric Cooperative.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, traffic control, and incident mitigation. This segment of Long Neck was closed for the duration of the incident.

It appears that a white Chevrolet compact car was traveling south on Long Neck Road and struck a utility pole for unknown reasons.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the traffic pattern closures.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
