Nature: Vehicle Accident Possibly Serious

Location: Hollymount Rd and Beaver Dam Rd., Harbeson, DE 19951

On Friday evening, February 24th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Hollymount Road and Beaver Dam Road at the intersection. It was reported to be a two vehicle collision with possible minor injuries.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Engine #80-5 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility. Additional resources included the Delaware State Fire Police, the Sussex County Paramedics and the local emergency medical services provider.

Emergency response crews were requested provide vehicle stabilization, assist with patient stabilization if needed and perform debris and fluid recovery as well as traffic control.

It appears that a four door black sedan and a silver Dodge Pick Up both were approaching the intersection and collided for an unknown reason. It appears that the sedan was t-bone by the Dodge. Both vehicles suffered damage and prohibited traffic flow through the intersection.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control while the roadway intersection traffic was limited for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
