Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: 32316 River Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Wednesday afternoon, February 1st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on River Road. It was reported to be a single vehicle versus a telephone phone with possible wires down.

Emergency response apparatus from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, traffic control, and overall incident mitigation activities. Segments of River Road were closed for the duration of the incident and well into the evening hours for the utility pole replacement.

It appears that a white Chevrolet Pick Up truck was traveling on River Road and lost control and struck the utility pole for an unknown reason.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident before turning over the traffic control function to a private utility company flagging company.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
