Nature: Vehicle Accident Possibly Serious

Location: Just Before Bridge 22670-22673 John J Williams Hwy., Lewes, DE 19958

On Saturday, January 28th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway. It was reported to be a single vehicle roll-over. Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization if necessary, incident mitigation with traffic control and assistance with any patient stabilization.

It appears that a black sedan was traveling on John J. Williams Highway and lost control for an unknown reason, running off the roadway and causing the vehicle to overturn John J. Williams Highway was closed for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the traffic control measures.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
