Nature: Vehicle Accident Possibly Serious

Location: Plantations Lake Across From Peninsula

Address:  26396 Bay Farm Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Friday afternoon, January 20th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Bay Farm Road in the vicinity of Plantation Lakes across from the Peninsula. It was reported to be a single vehicle into one the man-made lakes within the residential development off of Bay Farm Road.

Emergency response units from Indian River include Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engines #80-1 and #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Additional fire company resources including but not limited local dive teams were called in from Selbyville (88), Millsboro, (83), and Dagsboro (73) as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included incident mitigation, scene preservation, patient extrication from the vehicle and vehicle extrication from the water. It appears that a blue mini-van was traveling on Bay Farm Road and for an unknown reason ran into one the nearby man-made lakes within the residential development.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
