Sunday January, 1 2017 @ 14:56 Nature: Vehicle Accident Possibly Serious City: John J. Williams Highway @ Robinsonville Road, Lewes On Sunday afternoon, January 1st, the Indian River (80) and Rehoboth Beach (86) fire companies were alerted to assist the Lewes (82) Fire Department with an initial structure fire alarm on Maplewood Drive in the Lochwood development. A second alarm was dispatched for Lewes Fire Company, at the Delaware Distilling Company on Bryan Drive near Midway and all remaining apparatus was diverted to the next incident. While traveling to Midway, Rescue 80 came upon a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway at Robinsonville Road involving a departmental vehicle from Rehoboth Beach. Rescue 80 immediately rendered assistance offering pre-hospital emergency medical care, traffic control, and alerting other responding apparatus of the incident. The Lewes Fire Company was dispatched for a third alarm included. It appears that a black Dodge Pick-up traveling on John J. Williams Highway collided with a gray Ford Escape was crossing John J. Williams Highway from Robinsonville Road when the collision occurred. Both vehicles continued onto the shoulder against a utility pylon. Both vehicles suffered significant damage. The Lewes Fire Department EMS transported two patients to the hospital for additional observations. The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident. The Delaware State Police are investigating. |
