Sunday January, 1 2017 @ 14:35 Nature: Structure Fire Location: 28 Maplewood Dr., Lochwood, Lewes, DE 19958
On Sunday afternoon, January 1st, the Indian River (80) and Rehoboth Beach (86) fire companies were alerted to assist the Lewes (82) Fire Department with a structure fire on Maplewood Drive in the Lochwood development. It was reported to a working fire on the exterior porch of the residential structure with possible extension in to the attic area. Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Emergency crew assignments included assuming the first due engine assignment with deployment of a fire suppression handline and begin checking for extension. It appears that the structure fire was limited to a porch and exterior of the house. The fire was quickly knocked down and held to Indian River's 80-3, Lewes’ two engines, and Tanker 86. All other responding units were diverted to a third alarm for the Lewes Fire Department. The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating.
