Issue: Station #1 – Water Leak

On Thursday evening, December 15th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company identified a water main leak that was located within the front of the fire station on Oak Orchard Road.

Indian River notified Tidewater Utilities of the situation as the temperature was hovering in the high teens to low 20s with a significant wind chill factor. Tidewater Utilities did segregate specific areas of water distribution lines and disconnected some water mains to nearby residential locations.

The Delaware Department of Transportation was notified of the incident as to the icy conditions.

Rescue 80 was utilized to provide lighting assistance to Tidewater Utilities for the duration of the incident.

Indian River’s operational processes have been amended pending further information regarding the water main leak and location.
