Nature: Vehicle Accident Possibly Serious

On Sunday evening, December 11th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Long Neck Road at the entrance to the Shoppes of Long Neck. It was reported to be two vehicles with occupant entrapment. The Delaware State Police Aviation Unit (Trooper 2) was alerted for the incident as well.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility.

Emergency response crew assignments included traffic control, scene mitigation, preparation for a door pop and overall incident management.

It appears that a blue Honda minivan was traveling down Long Neck Road when a maroon Ford Focus sedan entered the roadway at the intersection. Both vehicles sustained front end damage. It was reported that entrapment was needed in one of the vehicle prior to arrival of emergency response units from Indian River.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
