Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: 28026-28042 Layton Davis Millsboro, DE 19966

On Friday afternoon, October 21st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Layton Davis Road in the vicinity of Barnacle Boulevard. It was reported to be a two vehicle collision possibly head-on and entrapment.

Emergency response units from Indian River include Rescue 80 and Utility 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  The dispatching protocol required the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit (Trooper #2), Sussex County Paramedics, and the local emergency medical services provider to be alerted as well.

Emergency response crew assignment included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization, incident mitigation activities debris and fluid recovery, traffic control, and scene preservation.  Aviation units were cancelled.

It appears that a brown Ford Pick Up and a gray KIA Soul were traveling on Layton Davis Road and collided head on for an unknown reason.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
