Nature: Vehicle Accident

On Saturday afternoon, October 15th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Holly Lake Campsite. It was reported to be a two vehicle collision.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80, Utility 80-8, Utility 80-11 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as Engin3 #80-1 from the Long Neck facility and the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, traffic control, assist with patient stabilization if needed and overall incident mitigation activities.

It appears that the Chevrolet Cobalt and a Volvo sedan both were traveling east bound on John J. Williams Highway when the Volvo collided with the Chevrolet causing significant damage to both vehicles. The traffic patterns for John J. Williams Highway were detoured for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Police and Utility 80-8 coordinated traffic for the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
