Apparatus Throw Back – Ladder Trucks
Indian River Volunteer Fire Company wishes to highlight and offer historical information regarding our earlier emergency response apparatus. The current apparatus highlight will be with Indian River’s Ladder Trucks distinctly known as Ladder 80.

1990 Pierce Ladder Truck
Indian River's Ladder Trucks are designated Unit 7 and is currently housed at Station #1 in Oak Orchard.
The current Ladder 80 is a 1990 Pierce Lance 105’ ladder truck with an 8-man cab; 8V92 Detroit diesel engine, automatic transmission, 12 kw generator, Whelen emergency light packages, automatic nozzles at tip of ladder; 8 – 500-watt quartz lights; stokes baskets, ventilation fans; assortments of hand tools at tip of ladder; assortment of ground ladders ranging from 14’ to 45’.
This Pierce Ladder truck was originally known as Ladder 79 and served the Doylestown Fire Company Station #1 in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
It was acquired and retro-fitted for the Indian River Vol. Fire Co., Inc. during Calendar Year 2010.
The Ladder 80 graphics and lettering was completely designed and installed by Rogers Graphics in Milton, Delaware.
The former ladder truck was a 1981 American LaFrance Ladder truck.
1981 American LaFrance Ladder Truck
This 1981 American LaFrance, 100 foot ladder truck, 4-man cab, automatic transmission, ventilation fans, assortment of ground ladders and was sold in December, 2009.
This 1981 American LaFrance truck was originally acquired from Christiana Fire Company.
It was acquired and retro-fitted for the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company before being sold in December 2009.
