Saturday September, 3 2016 @ 13:09 Nature: Water Rescue Priority 1 Location: Rehoboth Shores - Off of the beach Address: 34568 Long Neck Rd Millsboro, DE 19966
On Saturday, September 3rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a water rescue incident off of the Rehoboth Shores development in the Rehoboth Bay. It was reported as two vessels off of the beach and apparently taking on water. Emergency response units from include Rescue 80, Utility 80 and 80 Marine 2, Utility #80-14 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush #80-0 and 80 Marine 1 from the Long Neck facility. Emergency response assignments included a staging and evaluation point from the Rehoboth Shores location while marine launching from the Massey’s Landing location. It appears that residents from the Rehoboth Shores development were watching the water and noticed what appeared to be two vessels in the Rehoboth Bay off of Rehoboth Shores development. 80 Marine 1 was authorized to launch from the Massey’s Landing Boat Ramp and the tidal and wind conditions made launching extremely difficult and with the assistance of concerned persons we were able to accommodate the task. 80 Marine 1 responded to the Rehoboth Shores area via Massey’s Ditch and Rehoboth Bay with extreme conditions and located the apparent sighting location which resulted in the determination of two duck blinds submerged in the extremely high tide conditions. All units were authorized to return to quarters and 80 Marine 1 was trailered in the Pot Nets Coveside marina location due to the current wind and tidal conditions.
