Nature: Marine Fire

Location: Pot Nets Seaside in The Water 36456 Long Neck Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Friday afternoon, August 26th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vessel fire in the water off of Pot Nets Seaside. It was reported that the vessel was in the water drifting towards Massey’s Ditch.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility and 80 Marine 1 with Utility 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police, and the DNREC Marine Police.

Emergency response units were assigned to the Massey’s Landing Public Boat Ramp.

As a result of the immediate response of DNREC Marine Police and the actions of the mariner’s the fire was quickly extinguished and the vessel’s occupants transferred to another marine unit.

All emergency response units from Indian River were cancelled.

The incident is being investigated by the DNREC Marine Police.
