On Thursday morning, August 18th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an automatic alarm sounding on Springfield Road near Georgetown. This incident was located within the Georgetown fire district; however, Millsboro (83) and Georgetown (77) fire companies were already mitigating other emergency incidents. Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 and Chief 80-15 from the Oak Orchard area, Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck area as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Emergency response units were cancelled to the automatic alarm incident while in route. Engine #80-3 can upon an emergency incident (vehicle accident) within the Millsboro (83) fire district while responding to the automatic alarm incident near Georgetown. Emergency response crew assignments included incident mitigation and assistance pending arrival of Millsboro (83) fire company response units. It appears a Jeep Cherokee was traveling on Harbeson Road and struck the rear of delivery truck with a lift gate attached. The Jeep Cherokee suffered extensive front-end damage. The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the traffic control for the duration of the incident. The Delaware State Police are investigating. |
