Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: John J Williams Hwy between Bay Farm and Legion Road

On Thursday evening, August 4th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway between Bay Farm Road and Legion Road. It was reported to be two vehicles.

Emergency response units from Indian River included: Rescue 80, Engine #80-5, and Chief 80-15 from the Oak Orchard area; and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck area as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response assignments included incident mitigation activities such as traffic control, vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization, and scene preservation.

It appears that red Ford sedan was traveling westbound on John J. Williams Highway and a gold Hyundai SUV was traveling eastbound when both vehicles collided for unknown reasons. Both vehicles continued to the shoulder of the roadway before stopping.

The Delaware State Fire Police closed John J. Williams Highway for the duration of the incident. Traffic was detoured via Mount Joy Road, Cannon Road, Friendship Road and Autumn Road.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
