Nature: Vehicle Accident Possibly Serious

Location: Mount Joy Rd and Cannon Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Friday afternoon, June 24th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Mount Joy Road in the area of Cannon Road. It was reported to be a single vehicle into a pole and the pole was snapped.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments were to coordinate the Mount Joy Roadway closure between Cannon Road and Maryland Camp Road for the duration of the incident; assist with patient stabilization where needed; and provide traffic control assistance.

It appears that a maroon 4-door sedan was traveling on Mount Joy Road and lost control for an unknown reason and striking a utility pole.

Additional services were requested from the utility service provider - Delaware Electric Cooperative and well as arrow boards from the Delaware Department of Transportation. The sole occupant of the vehicle was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observation.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
