Nature: Vehicle Accident Possibly Serious

Location: 26692-28051 Mount Joy Rd., Millsboro, DE 19966

On Monday May 2, 2016, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a rescue engine assist with Millsboro Volunteer Fire Company for a vehicle accident that was reported serious with entrapment. Upon arrival of Millsboro’s Emergency Medical Services, it was identified to have three (3) vehicle involved and possible 5 or more patients. The incident was upgraded to a Level 1 Mass Casualty Incident.

Emergency response units from Indian River include Engine #80-5 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

The location of the incident was on Mount Joy Road and traffic was exasberatate by the volume of traffic associated with the detour and closure of John J. The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the traffic pattern closures and detours on Mounty Joy Road for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
