Nature: House Fire

Location: 32085 Steele Dr., Millsboro, DE 19966

 

On Friday evening, April 29th, the Indian River (80), Millsboro (83), and Lewes (82) fire companies were alerted for a working residential fire with reported occupant(s) trapped inside.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as Engine #80-1 and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility. The Delaware State Fire Police, the Delaware State Fire Marshal, and the Sussex County Paramedics were also dispatched to the incident as well.

Emergency response crew assignments included incident mitigation measures including activation of two fire suppression lines and access through the front door, ventilation, and water supply.

Firefighters were quickly able to determine that no one was trapped inside the residential structure; however, the family canine was rescued from the interior of the structure by Millsboro Firefighter Finkbinder. Additionally firefighters were able to quickly extinquish the fire.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided incident traffic control and incident assistance.

The Delaware State Police responded to the incident as well.
