Wednesday March, 23 2016 Nature: Delaware House of Representative Tribute City: Legislative Hall – Dover, DE On Wednesday, March 23rd, the Delaware House of Representatives recognized Jacob Klingler for his outstanding community service during Winter Storm Jonas earlier this year. Jacob Klingler is a Junior Volunteer Firefighter with the Millsboro Fire Company and was attending the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company when assistance was needed at the Community Church of Oak Orchard. The Honorable State Representative Ruth Briggs-King and Richard Collins presented the following House Tribute to Jacob Klingler while his family was in attendance. The State House Tribute reads… “ We commence this exceptional young man for going above and beyond to assist the citizens of the community who were affected by Winter Storm Jonas. During the storm, Pastor J. Allen Miller was contacted for usage of the Community Church of Oak Orchard as a temporary shelter for people being evaluated due to the severe flooding. Pastor Miller agreed to open the church to those in need when he notices there was a leak in one of the restrooms. He contacted the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company to help with this safety issue. Jacob was dispatched to help with the clean-up where he contained the leak and took care of the water. For the next eight hours, he diligently assisted people who had been transported by military style trucks and supervised the parking area where people brought their vehicles to keep them out of the flood zone. Jacob also helped those with special needs, kept up communication with the fire company, and helped with the food preparation, serving and clean up. We thank him for his outstanding contributions and dedication. Thank you Jacob!” On behalf of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and residents of the Oak Orchard, we also our appreciation for Jacob’s volunteerism. |
