The cause of the fire is now under investigation. Fire crews responded to the house fire at around 8:30 Wednesday morning. Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company spokesman Warren Jones says with assistance from other nearby fire companies, the blaze was quickly under control. "We advanced our folks inside the building to tackle the fire", Jones says. "It also spread into the upper floor, which is the reason we had to ventilate the roof. But we contained it to the area". The daughter of the victim tells me her mom noticed smoke coming from her porch. When she went to get water to put it out, the fire spread. Neighbors were able to help her to safety. She adds that her mom was exhausted from the ordeal, but was uninjured. (3) Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. - http://www.rehobothbeachfire.com/gallery/detail?id=18949 |
