Nature: Vehicle Accident

Cement Truck and Passenger Vehicle Collide – John J. Williams Highway

On Monday morning, February 22, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity to the entrance to Baywoods. It was reported to be a cement truck and a passenger vehicle.

Emergency response units from Indian River included the Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, traffic control, and incident mitigation.

It appears that a cement truck was traveling westbound and a white Scion was traveling eastbound on John J. Williams Highway that for an unknown reason struck the rear tandem axle of the cement truck.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control measures for the remainder of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
