Address: 24003 Pine Lake Dr Georgetown, DE 19947

On Friday evening, January 22nd, while the Indian River Volunteer Fire was mitigating the vehicle accident incident Engine #80-1 was notified of reported structure fire on Pine Lake Drive. This incident location was within the Millsboro (83) Fire District and Georgetown (77) and Indian River (80) were alerted to assist. The incident synopsis included a working structure with possible entrapment.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #801 from the Long Neck facility. Engine #80-1 and Rescue 80 were diverted from the earlier vehicle accident alarm.

Emergency response units were hampered by the inclement weather conditions. Arriving units found a residential structure that had incurred a room and content fire with potential extension to the attic. The residential owner’s quick thinking to activate two fire extinguishers really saved the structure.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating.
