Nature: Vehicle Accident

On Monday, December 28th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Oak Orchard Road. It was reported to be a two vehicle rear end type collision with potential for minor injuries.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, scene mitigation, debris and fluid recovery, as well as traffic control for the duration of the incident.

It appears that a maroon Toyota Corolla was traveling westbound on John J. Williams Highway and collided with a KIA Sedona mini-van that was traveling westbound as well. The impact caused extensive front end damage to the Toyota and required traffic pattern adjustments for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the traffic pattern alterations during the incident mitigation phase.

The Delaware State Police are investigating the incident.
