On Wednesday, December 23rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Phillips Branch Road just west of Indian Mission Road. It was reported to be a single vehicle collision, overturned with occupant trapped. Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Emergency response crew assignments included scene and incident mitigation, assistance with patient stabilization where needed, vehicle stabilization, preparation for vehicle extrication, and traffic control. It appears that a black Ford F150 Pick-up was traveling on Phillip Branch while lost control approaching the sharp curve trapping the vehicle’s occupant. The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance while this section of Phillips Branch Road was closed. The Delaware State Police are investigating.
