Nature: Watercraft In Distress

Location: Massey's Landing Boat Ramp

Address:  36634 Long Neck Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Friday afternoon, November 27th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was a alerted for watercraft in distress incident at the Massey’s Landing Public Boat Ramp.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Brush #80-0 and 80 Marine 2 from the Long Neck facility.

Emergency response crew assignments included assistance to a mariner with respect to vessel recovery exercises.

It appears that a sole mariner was attempting to pull his vessel out of the water at the Massey’s Landing Public Boat Ramp when the vessel managed to get away. The vessel was floating in an easterly direction towards the Indian River Bay via Massey’s Ditch.

80 Marine 2 was launched to transport the sole mariner in an effort to reunite with the vessel.

All efforts were successful and both units were transferred back to the public boat ramp.
