Thursday November, 19 2015 @ 05:18 Nature: Vehicle Accident Location: Vehicle In The Water Address: 23350-23405 Angola Beach Lewes, DE 19958 Early Thursday morning, November 19th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to assist the Rehoboth Beach (86) Volunteer Fire Company with a vehicle accident off of Angola Road. It was reported to be a vehicle into water approximately 30 yards offshore as a result of a police incident. Emergency response units from Indian River include Utility 80-8 and 80 Marine 1 from the Oak Orchard facility, Brush 80-0 and 80 Marine 2 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Emergency response crew assignments included launching the marine units in order to access the vehicle assist with vehicle recovery. Indian River’s marine units were assigned to Bay City for 80 Marine 2 and Massey’s Landing for 80 Marine 1 for response. 80 Marine 2 was able to respond and access the incident and offer assistance with vehicle recovery exercises. 80 Marine 1 experienced navigational difficulties and was delayed in responding; however, required the assistance of Tow Boat US. The initial emergency incident resulted with 80 Marine 2 accessing the vehicle and securing chains to allow for the vehicle to be extricated from the water. It appears that this incident was the result of police action incident and all further details will be coordinated by the Delaware State Police. The navigational assistance request required the vessel extrication from a marshy area off of Pot Nets Creekside in some of the lower back bay areas. There were no civilian or emergency responder injuries or vessel damage associated with the incident. All units were returned to the respective quarters after notify the correct authorities. Stolen Vehicle Pulled From the Water in Lewes WGMD News Article, Delaware News, Local News by Randi Miller/November 19, 2015 Crews from Indian River Volunteer Fire Company were called to assist the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company early this (Thursday) morning for a vehicle in the water about 30 yards offshore in the area of Angola Beach Road and Bayliss Road in Lewes. Delaware State Police officials tell WGMD this was a stolen vehicle that was unoccupied. We’ll have more on this story as details become available. |
