Monday November, 16 2015 @ 07:07 Nature: Bariatric Stretcher and Manpower Assist Training Location: Indian River Station #1 – Oak Orchard On Monday evening, November 16th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company hosted the local emergency service provider in order to illustrate and train our volunteer personnel to assist with manpower resources during bariatric incidents. As you may be aware, bariatric incidents are necessary to address overweight persons which are growing exponentially within the United States. Providing pre-hospital emergency care to the increasing population of overweight and obese patients not only introduces new challenges to healthcare facilities, but also increases the likelihood of clinician and first responder injuries. Ambulance stretcher manufacturers have taken the initiative to provide an innovative product that can safely accommodate America’s patients, including the growing portion suffering from obesity. These products offer numerous features designed to help first responders provide the best possible care for patients, safely and efficiently. Illustrated herewith are examples of some of these innovations. |
