Nature: Vehicle Accident BLS

Location: 26582 John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966

On Friday afternoon, October 9th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the area of the mini storage facilities between Oak Orchard Road and Legion Road. It was reported to be two vehicles and rear end type collision. Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Incident Command from the Long Neck facility, and the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments include scene mitigation, vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization if needed, traffic control, and debris and fluid recovery. The normal traffic patterns for east and west bound traffic were discontinued for the duration of the incident.

It appears that a silver Chevrolet Pick-up was traveling eastbound and was struck from behind by a white Ford Freestar van causing extensive damage to both vehicles. The local emergency medical provider evaluated the vehicle occupants for additional EMS services.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance during the roadway closure periods.
