Saturday October, 3 2015 Indian River’s Fire District Feeling Effects of Lingering Coastal Storm The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company continues to offer comfort and assistance to many residential properties that are concerned with the impact of the coastal flood warning and a limited state of emergency still remain in effect in Sussex County. The entire Sussex County is continuing to take the brunt of a lingering coastal storm that shows little sign of moving on or letting up. Sustained wind gusts are still pushing water into these communities that have endured days of inclement weather and flooding due to higher than normal tide cycles. The National Weather Service predicts that the nor'easter will continue affect the Delmarva Peninsula on Saturday and into Sunday. Officials say winds could remain up to 40 mph along the coast, into Sunday, and tides are expected to run as much as 2 to 4 feet above normal. Illustrated herewith is an updated fire district assessment survey that was performed on Saturday afternoon between the hours of 3 p. – 5 p.
