Saturday October, 3 2015 @ 00:26 Nature: Service Call-Fire Location: 35356-35419 Bay Shore Ln., Millsboro, DE 19966 Early Saturday morning, October 3rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a service call type incident. The incident specifics were to assist the Delaware State Police with a car into the water. Emergency response units from Indian River included: Incident Command 80, Utililty 80, and Indian River’s 5-ton Inclement Weather Vehicle from the Oak Orchard area, Brush 80-0 from the Long Neck area, as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Emergency response crew assignments were to evaluate the vehicle to ascertain if any additional persons were inside the vehicle and to provide lighting for the initial scene assessment. It appears that a nearby resident was attempting to navigate the flood hidden roadway in a Toyota 4-Runner SUV and did not realize he was traversing on grass and sand as opposed to the roadway surfaces. Unfortunately, it appears that he ran over the side of a boat ramp allowing his vehicle to hinge on the side of the boat ramp bulkhead. The Delaware State Police are investigating the incident.
