Nature: District Monitoring of Tidal Water

Indian River Monitors Flooding in Oak Orchard – Riverdale – Long Neck

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company continues to monitor the tidal conditions within the Oak Orchard, Riverdale, and Long Neck communities.

In Oak Orchard, various parts of River Road were covered with water on Thursday afternoon, including the intersections with Chiefs Road and Nanticoke Avenue; however, the intersections of Cerise Lane and Oak Orchard Road remained clear.

In Long Neck, various parts of White House Beach and Long Neck Road have encountered some roadways covered with water but have remained passable.

At this point in Sussex County, the County Emergency Operations Center has not ordered any evacuations due to the flooding. However they are urging residents in vulnerable areas to consider relocating to higher ground and remain observant of their surroundings.
