Back to School Safety Messages Use Extra Caution when School is in Session With the school year here, children are transported to and from school or school related activities on the yellow school bus. The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company offers these safety messages to all, be sure to slow down, stop, and share the road to keep kids safe. Within the Indian River School District and back-to-school season is in full effect as of Tuesday, September 6th, please remember: (1) To slow down around school bus stops, stopped school buses, (2) To safely share the roads with school buses, pedestrians and bicyclists; (3) To remain alert and obey traffic laws when approaching stopped school buses; and (4) To inform children with the necessary knowledge with all elements of school safety. Whether children walk, ride their bicycle or take the bus to school, it is extremely important that they - and the motorists around them - take proper safety precautions. With the school year here, children are transported to and from school or school related activities on the yellow school bus. As a driver, be sure to slow down, stop, and share the road to keep kids safe.
