Other commentary regarding this unit was found when researching our archives for apparatus information.

When Indian River ordered this new 1960 GMC 6000 Series B Cab built by Seagraves (built pump and body) the chassis was lost during delivery and never located.  The company had to re-order in late 1960.

The first night this unit was placed in the firehouse some members (identities will remain unnamed) cut off the muffler to make the apparatus louder. This was extremely common with fire apparatus during this time period. The instructor from the factory was not impressed to say the least.

Actual purchase price of this piece of equipment was $16,500.
